Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

In an effort to read a bit more from Mississippi authors, I just finished Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams. A short read, it took me only three nights reading an hour or so per night to finish it. It's rather *shocking* in present day and I can't imagine how it went over in 1955 when it was published.

You should see it performed live some time. Maggie has been portrayed with varying levels of scandal. Although this is not one of my favorite Williams plays, it definitely lives up to its reputation as a classic, for many reasons.

If you liked it, you might also try The Rose Tattoo, another Williams play. It was made into a great movie starring a young Burt Lancaster and Anna Magnani.
